Auction Committee Invites You to Join Them in Downtown Davis

Come join members of the auction committee this Friday, Feb. 3rd as we stroll together in downtown Davis and ask businesses to donate items for our Cinco de Mayo Auction. We are meeting at 9:30 am in the Ace Garden Center parking lot on G Street. And will conclude with a late lunch before the kids are let out for the weekend. No experience is necessary. Auction Sponsorships Available

May 5th, 2012 will be Korematsu’s first big auction party. However, we need sponsors to help with upfront expenses that the current KPTO budget does not have. In addition, a strong majority of our teachers and staff have told us they would like to attend. We would like them to attend free of charge, that is, if we are able to raise the necessary funds. If you are a business owner or simply want to show support for your school this is a wonderful opportunity. Kindly review the sponsorship form and return it with your contribution to the office. Mark Your Calendar for the 1st Annual Korematsu Cinco de Mayo Auction

For the past 3 years a silent auction has accompanied the Korematsu Asian Pacific Festival. This year the KPTO Board has decided to move the silent auction portion of this event to an off-site, all adult “fun”raiser similar to other elementary schools in Davis.

We need lots of help to make this a success: from designing invitations, to picking out decorations as well as creating spreadsheets of donated items. Whatever time you can give, we will find a task for you. Our first meeting is Tuesday, January 10th, at 8:10 am in the Music Room. If you have any questions you can email Gerrit Michael at vice-president1@korematsupto.org.

Thank you for participating in the Party Lite fundraiser. I will be collecting packets today from the PTO room – if you have not already sent them with your student this morning, please turn them in to the office PTO room at the end of school today.

GATE Testing for Grades 3, 4, 6

Testing to determine GATE eligibility will be offered at the District office, 526 B Street for: 3rd graders (if absent during universal testing, new to the district, or who live in the school district but do not attend public schools) January 11, 2:00 pm. 4th and 6th graders: Nov. 16, Dec. 7, 14, or Jan. 18, 2:00 pm. If a student is already qualified for GATE they do not need to requalify. To register, contact Cindy Hoffart, GATE Secretary, at choffart AT djusd.net or phone 530-757-5300 x 146.

2 Fundraising Opportunities!

Goodmorning Korematsu Family!

This is a notice, that last week your child should have come home with a fundraising packet which had not just 1, but 2 fundraising opportunities for our school.

The First, a Party Lite portion of the packet, is a quick fundraiser which will need to be turned in by this Thursday – Dec. 8 – All of the orders will be shipped directly to the people who have ordered, so please make sure the addresses are clear and complete. Also, ALL CHECKS for this fundraiser should be made out to KPTO – anything else will cause the orders to not go through. Party Lite donates 50% of the proceeds back to Korematsu!

Secondly, a Creative Memories fundraiser has begun, this fundraiser is a precursor to some fun community building activities which will take place a couple times throughout next year, starting in January. By placing an order through the website listed on the flyer –
http://www.mycmsite.com/sites/tarriswanson – Korematsu PTO will receive 30 – 50% of the proceeds of your scrapbook related orders through December 31. In January, our very own Tarri Swanson will be running a workshop on how to put these products to good use!

E-Wing Car Wash Date Moved to 12/11

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the reservation for the car-wash fundraiser to raise money for Korematsu’s E-Wing needs was moved to December 12th. If you’re able to volunteer, please contact sharindavis AT sbcglobal.net. If you have a dirty car, please considering getting it washed at this fundraiser!

Winter Craft Fair Tomorrow, Nov. 19th (9am – 3 pm)

With 20 vendors, many of whom are talented Korematsu parents, 6 kids craft tables and treats for all, this event will help you get ahead of your holiday shopping.
