Elementary Music Program Parent Meetings

DJUSD will offer intermediate grade students the following music classes for 2010–2011:

  • Beginning string lessons for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
  • Beginning band lessons for 5th and 6th graders.
  • Continuing lessons for all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who have already had 1 year of private or school lessons and meet the standards for second-year students.

The music teachers will meet with the students during the first few days of school. They will demonstrate different instruments, give information about the program, explain how to enroll, and give your child information to take home.

To enroll your child in a beginning class, you and your child must first go to one of these meetings:

Band: Meetings at Emerson Jr. High, 2121 Calaveras Ave.

  • Sept. 7 @ 7:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 8 @ 7:30 p.m. (Spanish language translator available at this meeting)

Strings: Meetings at Patwin Elementary School, 2222 Shasta Dr.

  • Sept. 7 @ 7:30 p.m. (Spanish language translator available at this meeting)
  • Sept. 8 @ 3:30 (Spanish language translator available at this meeting) & 7:30 p.m.
  • Sept. 9 @ 7:30 p.m. (Spanish language translator available at this meeting)

DJUSD District Dollars Update

Visit District Dollars for Budget Update and to Share Your Education Priorities

District Dollars is a web-based, interactive program to help you understand the DJUSD budget situation. It provides recently updated information on:

  • How California pays for schools
  • How much money the district gets and how it is spent
  • The different options for balancing the budget

District Dollars lets you ask questions, provide feedback and share your own values about education priorities. “What Do You Value?” remains open for your input through June 1. The Board of Education will adopt a final 2010-11 budget by July 1.
