Robert Emmons, Phd

WHAT: As one of life’s most vital ingredients, gratitude can make a profound difference through its ability to heal, energize, and transform our lives. At the February 3rd Parent University event, Professor Emmons will draw upon recent advances in gratitude research, and teach us how scientifically validated principles can be applied to make kids (& parents) happier and more successful in every aspect of life.

 

WHO: Robert Emmons has been a UC Davis Professor of Psychology since 1988. Emmons has spent more than two decades researching the nature of Gratitude, its causes, and its potential consequences for human health and well-being. He has authored over 100 original publications and several books on the topic of Gratitude and is frequently quoted in international publications such as The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.

 

WHEN: Friday, Feb 3rd, 7:00PM- 9:00PM ,

 

WHERE: The talk is FREE and will take place at the Brunelle Theater on the Davis High School campus.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This FREE event brought to you by Davis PTA’s & DJUSD. No pre registration required but seating is limited so come early

Doors open at 6pm – delicious wraps and salads by Davis Own Gourmet Solutionz available for purchase for $5.

8th grade presentation at Da Vinci Jr. High

Da Vinci Junior High will present an 8th grade presentation on the evening of Wednesday, 1/18/12 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm in the Da Vinci portables on the Emerson campus. If parents and students are interested about Da Vinci Junior High this would be a great opportunity to see Project Based Learning in action. The presentation will be an 8th grade American Studies project titled Monumental in which students create Monuments and exhibits for one of the first seven presidents. Exhibits will be tangible, multimedia, and interactive.

Walker Creek Parent Open House

This is to announce our Annual Winter Parent Open House on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Walker Creek Ranch. Please see the attached invitation fliers (English and Spanish versions) with details and directions to the Ranch. This event is open to the parents of the students who, are scheduled to attend the Outdoor School during the 2011-12 school year and the up coming Fall of 2012-13 school year.
