Auction Sponsorships Available

May 5th, 2012 will be Korematsu’s first big auction party. However, we need sponsors to help with upfront expenses that the current KPTO budget does not have. In addition, a strong majority of our teachers and staff have told us they would like to attend. We would like them to attend free of charge, that is, if we are able to raise the necessary funds. If you are a business owner or simply want to show support for your school this is a wonderful opportunity. Kindly review the sponsorship form and return it with your contribution to the office. Auction – Sponsorship Letter

Reminder: Wednesday morning in the Music Room from 8:10 – 8:40 am your auction co-chairs, Gerrit Michael and Trish Marshall, will be available. If you would like to sign-up to be on a committee or have any questions feel free to stop by.

Measure C — What’s at Stake at Our School?

A message from the Measure C campaign is below. Please consider signing up to help the campaign, as it is critical to our school (as you will read below) that this passes. I’ve just signed up for one phone banking slot, and am working on trying to figure out when to do a second slot, hopefully to support the walking.

Dear Korematsu families,

As many of you know, Measures Q and W will sunset in 2012 resulting in a $6.5 million or approximately 10 percent loss to the school district’s overall budget.

If the parcel taxes are not renewed, every elementary school will lose its science teachers, its librarians, its reading and math support, its music program and class sizes in K- 3 will most likely go to 30 students.

In February, all Davis residents will be asked to vote on Measure C, which will replace the funds from Q and W.

The Measure C campaign will have two walking weekends and a number of phone banking nights. You can come with a group or as an individual.

Please visit the websites below for sign up information.
