Measure A ballots to go out soon
The following is a message from the Measure A campaign. We still
really really need people to help out the campaign Thursday night.
Please consider helping, as our school really really needs it to.

Measure A Ballots First All-Mail Election for Davis
Ballots for Measure A will be arriving in your mail the first week of April. Use these next two weeks to learn about the issues and how Measure A, a temporary parcel tax, will help save classes for Davis students, protect great educational programs and save teacher jobs.
A “yes” vote is important. The state is cutting funding to schools, and even if the tax extension passes in June, budget reductions are unavoidable and Davis schools will need your help.
Simply put, the state’s chronic structural deficit means that if we want good schools in Davis, and the good things that flow from them, including a strong community and resilient property values, we will have to take greater responsibility for funding our schools. Our schools have made the city a magnet and rightly so, but we can’t take them for granted. At this point, we need to start looking to ourselves to ensure that our public schools continue to be a driver of our strong community life.
The Yes on Measure A campaign has put together a website, http://www.yesforourstudents.org, that outlines what is at stake. The Davis Joint Unified School District has put up a page on Measure A on its web site as well: http://www.djusd.net/district/measa.
This is an all-mail single-issue election about our schools. Success depends on a two-thirds majority, so every vote is important. Make sure that your ballot doesn’t get put aside with the junk mail; please fill it out right away and return it as soon as you can. Votes must be recorded by May 3 or they don’t count.
The campaign also is asking parent volunteers and teachers from each school to work the phone bank to make sure people are looking for their ballots in the mail. It is fun and a great way to engage voters and get the word out, and there will be people on hand to get you going.
