Davis High School Symphony Orchestra concert

Davis High School Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Angelo Moreno, is offering the community a very special opportunity to see The Adventures of Jack and the Beanstalk. It’s the familiar story we all know and love, set to original music by composer Elizabeth Lackey. The narrator is Broadway performer Michael Lackey, who wrote the script for “Jack” and also happens to be married to the composer. And there will be a special guest appearance by The Giant!

Mr. Lackey is currently performing in the Las Vegas production of “The Phantom of the Opera,” and has also performed with three other “Phantom” companies, including Broadway and San Francisco. He has performed the show over 3,000 times, playing “The Phantom” more than 150 times. A musical theatre veteran of more than 40 productions, he has toured with Carol Channing, Florence Henderson, and Juliet Prowse, and has performed with Tony Randall and Robert Goulet. Mr. Lackey keeps a busy concert schedule singing with orchestras all over the country. You may recognize his voice as the announcer in Olympic ice skating specials or from national television commercials.

Composer Elizabeth Lackey has written and orchestrated five commissioned symphonic works as well as several musicals and numerous songs that have been performed throughout the United States. Several of her symphonic works have been written specifically for children, including “Jack and the Beanstalk,” “Pinocchio,” “The Ugly Duckling,” and “Robin Hood.”

This family-friendly concert for the young and the young-at-heart is Saturday, February 19th, at 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall, Davis High School, 315 W. 14th Street, Davis. Tickets are $5.00 (general admission) and are available for advance purchase at Watermelon Music, 207 E Street, Davis. Any unsold tickets will also be available at the Performanc.
